Commercial Metal Framing
Commercial buildouts have specific code requirements that residential work usually does not. Fire rated assemblies for corridors, demising walls, and shaft walls all require Type X drywall, specific stud gauge and spacing, and joint treatments that meet UL listings.
Layout matters most on commercial work. We snap chalk lines from the architect grid, account for column locations, mechanical chases, and door swings, and adjust before any tracks get fastened to the deck. Bottom track gets shot to the slab with proper anchors and spacing.
Headers, jambs, and openings need extra attention in commercial framing. Door openings get full height stud assemblies on each side, with header tracks sized to span the opening and transfer the load.
